While public wikis usually don't require you to log in to read their content, most company wikis are log-in based, especially if you want to contribute articles. Unless your wiki has a comfort-sign on solution installed, you will see a login screen before you can access the wiki.

When logging in for the first time, you usually have to change your password and confirm the privacy policy and the terms of use .

By the way: if you want to stay logged in for a while, just check the box Keep me logged in. That way you don't need to re-enter your data every time you visit the wiki. Your login is stored in a browser cookie on your system. If you delete your browser cookies, you have to provide your login information next time you want to use the wiki.

After logging in

Once you're logged in, you can access the wiki pages. Ideally, the wiki administrators have granted you editing rights, so you can start working on the wiki content right away. You'll learn how to create pages in the next chapter.
